Characters and how 2 get them:

Characters	Easiest way 2 get them
Jigglypuff	Just beat classic with any char, any # of lives and continues
Marth	Beat the game with all default Chars
Ganondorf	Beat event # 29
Mewtwo	Play 20 hours in vs mode
Mr. Game & Watch	Beat the game with every other char
Luigi	Get a two in the time slot on the first lvl in Adventure Mode
Roy	Beat the game with Marth
Dr.Mario	Beat the game with Mario
Pichu	Beat Event # 37
Falco	Beat 100 man melee. ( I reccomend using Donkey Kong)
Young Link	Beat the game with 10 characters( including Link and Zelda)
New Arenas!!!	How 2 unlock
Big Blue	Play 150+ vs matches
Brinstar Depths	50+ vs matches
Dream Land Past Stage	Beat Target Test with every char
Flat Zone	Beat the Game with Mr.Game and Watch
Mushroom Kingdom 2	Collect Birdo Trophy
